The 36 Questions That Lead to Love: Session 2

(disclaimer: this conversation only happens in author’s head.)


Q13 | If a crystal ball could tell you the truth about yourself, your life, the future or anything else, what would you want to know?


M: i want to know what am i my previous life, cause i kinda believe in a reincarnation. probably i’m a war criminal, or some traitor in the previous life. i just wanna know.


F: actually i don’t wanna now anything about me from other people perspective or what people think about me, but if i have to know something, i wanna know how am i gonna spend my elder life. am i happier than today?


Q14 | Is there something that you’ve dreamed of doing for a long time? Why haven’t you done it?


F: i wanna travel around the world. visiting tibet, riding air balloon in turkey, go to arctic, going on a cruise ship, i wanna visit every capital city in the world. and why i haven’t done it? i have no time and money to do it.


M: same thing, i wanna travel the world. but probably the possible thing to do is exploring indonesia first. from the very west side, to the further east side. that’s already taking much time and energy. why i haven’t done it? cliché, money and time.


Q15 | What is the greatest accomplishment of your life?


M: when i earn my first salary. that would be it. i’m proud of that.


F: being born into this world.


M: wow, that’s deep.


F: i know.


Q16 | What do you value most in a friendship?


F: respect and caring. that’s the most important value in a friendship, two things that can lead to another. you losing one of ‘em, you can’t be my friend anymore.


M: honesty and loyalty. i don’t like being lied to. i trust my friend, i expect the other way around. if i can’t trust you, i don’t think we need to hang or talk again.


Q17 | What is your most treasured memory?


M: i think i’m losing some of my childhood memories, but looking from my old picture, i can say that’s probably the best era ever. oh, i remember, the moment when my parents told me that we’re broke up, our financial’s getting worse, and i can’t afford good college, so i have to go to mediocre college if i still want to study. that time, i learned something called accepting.


F: that’s sad.


M: i know.


F: my most treasured memory was when i was in my fragile time, i was in my worst period at that time, and one of my friend who know nothing about my problem come and give me a sweet surprise. you know you’re happy when you don’t have to tell anyone but they somehow know you’re having a trouble.


Q18 | What is your most terrible memory?


F: oh, yeah. that worst time. that one day. when everything goes wrong, from i woke up, until the night my friend come and give me a surprise. i can’t tell the detail, but it was a terrible day.


M: when i had my accidents. yes, plural. i’ve had a lots of accident.


Q19 | If you knew that in one year you would die suddenly, would you change anything about the way you are now living? Why?


M: i don’t think so. i like the way i live right now. i think i’m gonna continue it anyway. but i’ll making my last one year as fun a i could.


F: be good, do good, and hope universe support all the things i do for the last time.


Q20 | What does friendship mean to you?


F: everything. because everything started from friendship. that’s a phase in your life where you have to go through first before letting anyone come further into your life.


M: friends is like my other family. there’s always a friend for anything you do. you have a crazy friend to do crazy stuff. you have those wise friend that you can share your thoughts. you have those friend to hang out. you have those friend that you can trust to tell your secret, whatsoever, whatsoever.


Q21 | What roles do love and affection play in your life?


M: umm, i can say that i’m a melancholy person. so I think love and affection can give either happiness or sadness, or probably both. have you ever love and hate a person at the same time? that’s sucks.


F: i haven’t believe in love yet. maybe that’s why i always trust in respect and caring.


Q22 | Alternate sharing something you consider a positive characteristic of your partner. Share a total of five items.


F: he have a weird sense of humor. he’s kind to everybody. he’s a good listener. he have different perspective. he’s loyal.


M: she’s carelees. she’s independent. she have a good taste in music. she’s never complain. she looks great in jeans and sneakers.


Q23 | How close and warm is your family? Do you feel your childhood was happier than most other people’s?


M: for a small family, yeah i guess. we’re warm but not that close. we still keep secret to each other, we rarely do a deep conversation, we always do a small talks. i think my childhood was good. i don’t know if i’m happier than other. but I’m grateful.


F: yes, i have a close and warm family, we do a lot of things together, we have our own tradition, we share almost everything. i think my childhood was great.


Q24 | How do you feel about your relationship with your mother?


F: oh, i love her so much.


M: i love you too.


F: what?!


M: i mean i love my mom too.
